Mona Lisa 855
The Digital Evolution of an Icon
Curator's Note
Part of the ongoing Mona Lisa Project, Mona Lisa 855 explores the relationship between identity, artistic innovation and cultural memory. Every artwork within the project reflects a unique moment in time, together forming an evolving artistic practice that has been developing since 2001.
About this Artwork
Mona Lisa 855 creates a visual dialogue between Renaissance portraiture and the pioneering abstract language of Hilma af Klint. Rather than referencing her work directly, the artwork reflects on her enduring influence and the courage to imagine new ways of seeing.
By bringing one of history's most recognisable faces into conversation with one of modern art's earliest visionaries, Mona Lisa 855 explores how artistic ideas continue to evolve across generations. Geometry, colour and symbolism become a bridge between past and present, inviting viewers to reconsider the relationship between tradition and innovation.
Created as part of the ongoing Mona Lisa Project, Mona Lisa 855 represents one chapter within an expanding body of work exploring identity, cultural memory and the evolving relationship between humanity, art and technology.
